Jon D. Romain Obituary

October 26, 1961 – March 11, 2025

Jon D. Romain, a beloved son, friend, and devoted servant of the Lord, went home to be with his Savior on March 11, 2025, in Long Beach, CA, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 26, 1961, in Los Angeles, CA, and lived a life filled with faith, love, and purpose.

Jon’s greatest passion in life was his relationship with the Lord. He dedicated himself to his church and found immense joy in worship. He was a faithful member of West Angeles Church of God, where he sang in the choir, lifting spirits with his powerful voice. His love for gospel music led him to sing alongside the late Reverend James Cleveland, and he even recorded an album with his choir—an accomplishment he held dear. Worship wasn’t just something Jon did; it was a part of who he was. Every note he sang and every word he spoke reflected his devotion to Christ.

Beyond his music ministry, Jon’s faith guided him in every aspect of his life. He was a man of integrity, wisdom, and kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His unwavering belief in God’s goodness shone through in the way he treated others—with patience, respect, and love. He often spoke of the blessings in his life, and his greatest joy came when he fully gave his life to Christ.

Jon was also a hardworking and dedicated professional. He held roles at Church's Chicken, worked as a banker at Bank of America—where he was promoted to supervisor—and later served his community as an MTA bus driver. Regardless of the job, he approached his work with responsibility and excellence, seeing every role as an opportunity to serve others.

To those who knew him, Jon was more than a friend—he was family. He was outgoing, kind-hearted, and full of wisdom, always sharing his faith and his infectious smile. He had a gift for making people laugh, and his presence could brighten any room. He will be remembered for his honesty, his loveable nature, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Jon is survived by a host of family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Sarah, and his grandmother, Cholette Steele. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Jon has been welcomed into the arms of the Lord, where he now sings in Heaven’s choir.

To my dear friend Jon,

I CAN ONLY SAY THAT I WILL TRULY MISS THOSE LAUGHS WE SHARED AND THE TIMES WE GATHERED TO HEAR A WORD FROM THE LORD. I MISS YOUR SMILE AND YOUR WARM SPIRIT. YOU WERE A TRUE FRIEND. GOD BLESSED ME THE DAY WE MET—HE SENT ME ONE OF HIS OWN ANGELS TO WALK WITH AND TALK TO.

YOU HAVE BEEN MY FRIEND FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, AND YOU OPENED MY EYES EVEN MORE TO CHRIST. MY HEART ACHES BECAUSE I CAN’T SEE YOU OR GIVE YOU A HUG. I’M GOING TO MISS YOUR SMILE.

I CAN SAY, MY DEAR FRIEND, YOU WILL BE TRULY MISSED. SAVE ME A SEAT RIGHT NEXT TO YOU UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN AT HEAVEN’S DOORS. LOVE YOU FOREVER—NOW YOU REST IN THE LORD’S BOSOM.

SISTER BRANDI
