Julian Brew Obituary

November 11, 1966 – February 14, 2025

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Julian Brew, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Julian passed away on February 14, 2025, in Marina del Rey, California. Born on November 11, 1966, in Durham, North Carolina, he lived a life filled with purpose, curiosity, and unwavering kindness.

Julian was an accomplished attorney, known for his keen intellect, passion for justice, and ability to turn even the most serious moments into an opportunity for laughter. He loved to share stories of his colorful career, from taking the deposition of the legendary rock band The Eagles to representing the vice president of an African country. He had a way of making even the most complex legal battles sound like grand adventures, often entertaining friends and family with his animated retellings.

But Julian’s true joy came from the people in his life. He was a man who never met a stranger—because if he did, he would quickly change that. Proud of his personal philosophy to “always talk to strangers,” Julian had an uncanny ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He was friendly and outgoing, always eager to strike up a conversation, share a laugh, or crack a well-timed (or groan-worthy) dad joke. Whether he was debating politics, discussing music, or simply exchanging stories, Julian made people feel seen, heard, and valued.

One of his greatest passions was music. An avid bass and guitar player, he found immense joy in writing songs and jamming with friends. Music was more than just a hobby for Julian—it was an extension of his soul.

Of all his accomplishments, Julian was most proud of his children—Jack, Amanda, Alex, and Aidan. He cherished every moment with them, guiding them with his wisdom, humor, and boundless love. He found immense joy in their achievements, supported their dreams wholeheartedly, and never missed an opportunity to remind them how proud he was. His family was his greatest legacy, and his love for them was immeasurable.

Julian is survived by his loving wife, Nicole Benitah; his children, Jack, Amanda, Alex, and Aidan; his parents, Keith and Sheila Brew; his brother, Piers; and his sister, Criseyde. He leaves behind not only his family but also countless friends, colleagues, and acquaintances who were touched by his warmth, humor, and generosity.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the chapel at Woodlawn Cemetery, with a reception to follow in the afternoon at the home of Maurice and Michelle Benitah.

Julian will be remembered as intelligent, talented, caring, and endlessly funny—a man who lived life with enthusiasm, embraced every moment, and left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. His stories, music, and laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of those he loved.

Though Julian may no longer walk beside us, his laughter, music, and love will forever echo in our hearts, reminding us to embrace life with kindness, curiosity, and an open heart—just as he always did.
