Kenneth Francis Lloyd 'Floyd' Obituary

February 2, 1958 – October 17, 2024

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Kenneth Francis Lloyd, affectionately known as "Floyd," on October 17, 2024, in Topanga, California. Born on February 2, 1958, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Kenny lived a life defined by independence, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. He relocated to Topanga in 1982. During his first Christmas season there, he excitedly told us that he had sold a Christmas Tree to actor James Stewart. He was a man who made his own way, choosing a path that reflected his free spirit and unwavering sense of self.

Kenny had a profound love for the outdoors, where he found solace and freedom. Whether enjoying the fresh air or simply being surrounded by nature, he felt most at peace in openspaces. His dogs were not just companions but family, bringing him joy and unconditional loyalty. Those who knew Kenny best would say he was a man of quiet strength, someone who embraced life on his own terms and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures.

Music was another passion that shaped Kenny’s life. With his harmonica always within reach, he found a way to express himself through music, bringing moments of joy to those around him. His melodies were a reflection of his soul—deep, unique, and filled with emotion. Another of Kenny’s talents was the ability to fix anything.  He studied auto mechanics and carpentry in Trade School, and his love of the outdoors attracted him to the occupation of landscaping.

More than anything, Kenny valued his family. Though he lived life with a strong sense of independence, he held a deep love for those closest to him. His proudest accomplishments were not found in material success, but in the connections he cherished, especially with his family members. He is survived by his loving sister, Diane Barbara Lloyd Bastos; his nephew, Jemmison Walton Taylor; and his niece, Samantha Lynn Gould. He also leaves behind his cousins, Steven Condon, Gayle Condon Sheffield, and her children, Robbie and Victoria, as well as Bonnie Carr Bowers.

Kenny was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Marie and Francis Lloyd; his uncle, David Howley; his aunt, Catherine Howley Carr; his sister, Susan Joan Lloyd; and his niece, Amy Margaret Gould. While his passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him, his memory will live on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love that remains in the hearts of those who knew him.

Kenny will be laid to rest in a family plot in Massachusetts, where he will be reunited with his grandparents, mother, uncle, aunt, sister, and other relatives. Though he has left this world, his spirit remains—a reminder of a life lived with authenticity and an unwavering sense of self.

Rest in peace, Kenny. You will be deeply missed, but your memory will forever be carried in the hearts of those who loved you.
