Surrounded by the love of his family, Lawrence Szczepan passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at The Gardens in Los Angeles, California. He was a man of quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and a deep love for those closest to him.
Born on February 17, 1944, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, Mass. Lawrence lived a full and meaningful life defined by dedication, humor, and care for others. He proudly served in the Air Force, embodying the values of service, resilience, and integrity. His career took him to Revere Copper and Brass and later to Huttleston House, where his strong work ethic and sharp wit left a lasting impression on those he worked with.
Lawrence cherished life’s simple moments—whether it was a peaceful round of golf, people-watching on a sunny afternoon, or simply enjoying the company of loved ones. He was chatty, often sharing stories and laughter, with a dry sense of humor that brought smiles to many. Above all, Lawrence had a protective and steady presence, always placing the well-being of his family first.
He took immense pride in his family and his home, which he lovingly cared for over the years. His daughters were his greatest joy, and he found happiness in being a father and grandfather. His loyal German Shepherd, Gronk, was never far from his side—a constant companion who brought him comfort and companionship.
Lawrence is survived by his loving daughters, Christina Santos (with son-in-law Paul Aranjo) and Marisa Szczepan Hofmans (along with her wife, Annie Hofmans, and their daughter, June Hofmans). He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Genevieve Szczepan, and his sister, Loretta Szczepan.
He will be remembered as a kind soul with a strong heart—a man who embraced life with humor, humility, and a quiet warmth that touched everyone he met. Lawrence’s absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy of love and laughter will live on through the cherished memories shared by his family and friends.
Rest peacefully, Lawrence. You are loved beyond measure and will be forever missed.
