It is with deep sadness that the family of Rachel (Shoshana) Speck announces her passing on January 24, 2025 in Los Angeles, CA.
Born January 20, 1940 to Sarah and Shmuel Shoshana in Tiberias, Israel, Rachel completed her formative schooling and then served in the Israeli Air Force as a scrambler. Rachel moved to Washington, D.C. in 1963 and worked at the Israeli Embassy to the U.S. It was in D.C. that she met her future husband, Dr. Eugene Speck. They married in 1965 and later moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1980 with son, Michael, and daughter, Keren.
Rachel made Las Vegas her home for more than 40 years. She was active in the community working at the State of Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Service, and volunteered at the Assistance League of Las Vegas. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting.
Rachel is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Eugene Speck, son Michael, and daughter Keren Koretz (Brandon); grandchildren Molly and Georgeanne Koretz; and Josh and Eli Speck. She will be laid to rest in Las Vegas at a date to be determined by the family. There are no funeral or gathering plans at this time.
