It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Joseph Hackett, who left this world on January 22, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. Born on September 29, 1954, in Yonkers, New York, Tommy lived a life marked by kindness and an easygoing spirit that made him beloved by all who knew him.
Tommy served his community as a sanitation driver for Royal Carting and Galioto Sanitation. He also worked at Dairy Mart in Hughsonville, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and warm presence.
In his younger years, Tommy found joy in the great outdoors, spending time fishing and hunting. As the years passed, he developed a deep love for reading. Those who knew him best will remember his gentle nature, soft-spoken personality, and his unwavering ability to make people feel at ease.
Above all, Tommy was most proud of his family, cherishing the bonds he shared with his loved ones. His kind soul and big heart were evident in the way he cared for those around him, always offering support, love, and quiet wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Thomas F. Hackett, and his sister, Susan Janak. Tommy is survived by his brother, Bob Hackett (Debbie), nephew Bobby Hackett Jr., and brother-in-law Dick Janak, along with a host of family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A graveside service will be held at St. Dennis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road Hopewell Junction, New York 12533. Tommy will be laid to rest at 10am on July 14th, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
Tommy will be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, and the love he shared with his family and friends. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the serenity he always found in life.
